Dermal Filler

Volume, in proportion.

Hyaluronic-acid filler that restores structure in cheeks, jawline, lips, and tear-troughs. Conservative artistry, immediate results.

Dermal FillerVolume, in proportion.

What it is

The treatment, explained without jargon.

Dermal filler is hyaluronic acid (HA), the same molecule your skin produces naturally to hold water and structure. We inject it where volume has been lost, where contour needs definition, or where a structural correction is needed. The result is immediate and lasts 9 to 18 months depending on the area and product.

We carry the Restylane and Juvederm families, each formulation matched to its purpose: thinner gels for under-eye and lip work, denser gels for cheek and jawline structure. Dr. Northrop is conservative, most patients leave with a single syringe and a follow-up plan, not a face full of product.

What it treats

Concerns this is the answer for.

  • Midface volume loss (cheek and tear-trough)
  • Lip definition and hydration (subtle, never overfilled)
  • Jawline contour and chin projection
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Hand rejuvenation (volume loss on the back of hands)
  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty (camouflaging a bump)

What to expect

Your visit, in three steps.

  1. 30 min

    Consultation + mapping

Dr. Northrop assesses your facial proportions, identifies the structural change you're after, and maps the injection points. You'll see the syringe count and total before anything is injected.

  2. 30-45 min

    Treatment

Topical numbing for 20 minutes, then injection with cannula (blunt-tip) or needle depending on area. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain.

  3. Complimentary follow-up

    2-week reveal

Swelling resolves over 7 to 14 days. We see you back at 2 weeks to assess settled results and recommend any refinements.

Aftercare

The next 24 to 72 hours.

  • Ice the treated area 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off for the first 2 hours
  • Sleep elevated (extra pillow) for the first 2 nights to minimize swelling
  • No exercise, sauna, or heat exposure for 24 hours
  • Expect mild swelling and possible bruising for 24-72 hours, arnica helps
  • No dental work for 2 weeks (the procedure can pressure the filler)
  • Avoid flights and high altitude for 1 week if possible

Is this for me?

Who it works for — and who it doesn't.

Good fit

  • Adults 25 to 65+ with structural volume loss or definition goals
  • Patients seeking subtle, natural enhancement (single-syringe approach)
  • Pre-event preparation 4+ weeks out
  • Patients who want correction without surgery

Not a fit

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients
  • Active skin infection or cold sore at the injection site
  • Recent dental work or upcoming dental procedures within 2 weeks
  • Autoimmune flare or recent infection
  • Blood thinners (case-by-case, disclose at consultation)

Dermal Filler questions

Common questions, honest answers.

  • Not when it's dosed correctly. Most of our patients leave with one syringe distributed across the area we're correcting. People notice you look rested, not that you got filler.
