Botox

Considered, never frozen.

FDA-approved neuromodulator that softens dynamic lines around the brow, eyes, and forehead.

BotoxConsidered, never frozen.

What it is

The treatment, explained without jargon.

Botox is a purified neuromodulator (botulinum toxin type A) that temporarily relaxes the small facial muscles responsible for dynamic lines, the ones that form when you frown, raise your brows, or smile. The active ingredient blocks the signal between nerve and muscle for 3 to 4 months, after which the muscle gradually returns to baseline.

Our approach at Northrop is conservative. Dr. Northrop treats the muscle, not the face, typical sessions use 20 to 50 units across multiple injection points, placed to soften without flattening expression. Most patients leave with a refreshed look that no one can quite name. That is the goal.

What it treats

Concerns this is the answer for.

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Glabellar (frown) lines between the brows
  • Crow's feet at the outer eyes
  • Brow lift (subtle elevation, no surgical look)
  • Bunny lines along the nose
  • Masseter / jaw slimming for TMJ + facial contour
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm or palm sweating)

What to expect

Your visit, in three steps.

  1. 15 min

    Consultation

Dr. Northrop assesses your face at rest and in animation, maps the injection points, and walks you through the unit count and total cost before anything is injected.

  2. 10-15 min

    Treatment

Micro-fine needle, ice for comfort. Most patients describe it as a series of tiny pinches. No downtime, you can go straight back to your day.

  3. 2 weeks, complimentary

    Follow-up

Results begin softening around day 3 and peak at day 14. We invite you back at the 2-week mark for any micro-adjustments at no charge.

Aftercare

The next 24 to 72 hours.

  • Stay upright for 4 hours after injection (no lying flat, no naps)
  • No exercise, sauna, or heated yoga for 24 hours
  • No facial massage, facial treatments, or sleeping face-down for 24 hours
  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, ibuprofen) for 24 hours
  • Results begin day 3, peak at day 14, and last 3 to 4 months on average

Is this for me?

Who it works for — and who it doesn't.

Good fit

  • Adults 25 and over with dynamic facial lines
  • Patients seeking prevention before deeper static lines form
  • Men (40% of our Botox patients are men)
  • Hyperhidrosis sufferers seeking 6+ months of dryness

Not a fit

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients
  • Patients with myasthenia gravis, ALS, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome
  • Active skin infection at the injection site
  • Known allergy to botulinum toxin or any formulation ingredient

Botox questions

Common questions, honest answers.

  • Not when it's done properly. Frozen is a function of dosing and placement, not the product. Dr. Northrop uses lower units in fewer points than a typical chain, the result is softened expression, not paralyzed.
